One of the most visible accomplishments of an African-American is the traffic light. Consider how many lives they have saved!

Another has to do with the expression "The Real McCoy." There was an African American railroad worker named McCoy who invented a method for lubricating locomotives.

There are many, many more, and I'm sure if you check some of the sites the other posters have supplied, you'll find a wealth of accomplishments.

Charles Drew was famous for his contribution in blood research; a black man invented the traffic light, George Washington Carver experimented with peanuts; just last week the lady died who was first black judge. There are so many. Why don't you do a search?

Benjamin banneker invented the filament that makes modern light bulbs work.

Black guy invented the chip that makes cell phones so small

black doctor invent the coronary bypass procedure (I think, see the movie somethng the lord made)

Garret morgan invented the traffic light and I think the refridgerator

if you go way back Black people invented chemistry hence the name chem-istry mean study of blacks, or black magic.

I think Martin Luther King III speech "I have a dream" is a great African American accomplishment. I think that speech paved the way for where they stand in the US today).
