Not in the official rules, but lots of families make up their own rules, that is part of the fun of the game (also speeds up the game a bit).

No, as it says so in the rules but you can always make your own. My brother loves Monopoly and since we play it so much we made some changes to the rules. We actually allow adding houses and even another hotel. It works just fine. We play the german version that has 10.000 as the highest bill and my brother can't get enough of them.
Go ahead, try adding some of your own rules. Just remember to tell or ask other players about it before you start the game. We have been playing our own version for so long now that I sometimes screw up when playing with other people.
Have fun. :-)

You can not. You can purchase one hotel per property in a monopoly. Then again, you can always agree to change rules at the beginning of the game if everyone agrees. Traditionally, however, no.
Here's a page with all of the official Monopoly rules if you have lost yours or want a quick refrence.

No. The maximun development is ONE HOTEL.
And there's a limit to how many hotels and houses are in the game (32 houses and 12 hotels). Also, to build a hotel, you have to have four houses on a property.
Of couse, most people make all sorts of friendly rules for thier own games.

Yep, we played with the same rules. Only difference is that we would put a $500 bill on the center in the beginning of the game, and every time someone landed on Free Parking, they would get all the Free Parking pile plus the $500. Then we would put another $500 bill in the center. That way you would ALWAYS get something if you land on Free Parking. Oh, and also any payment that was not for the bank, would also go to the free parking pile. Like if you had to pay income tax or something else from the cards.

Maybe not according to official rules, but if you and your friends agree to modify the rules before the first roll of the dice... Why not?
Hint- If you run out of houses, try using M&M's (colours are great) or maybe sunflower seeds.

Definitely not. Who came up with that rule? The parker brothers would roll over in their graves. How would you calculate the mortgage anyway?
