I use concealer, but it doesn't cover that well and it ends up looking very uneven

You can try using a foundation primer, which goes on before your foundation and will help even out your skin. (I think Smashbox makes an excellent primer) You can also try using a green-based concealer rather than a skin-tone concealer. Because green is opposite red on the color wheel, it will help neutralize your pimples and make them less noticeable.

My younger sister and I use the same foundation powder called bare escentials which can be bought online or in the store Sephora. She has acne and I do not but this is the ONLY make-up that she has ever been able to use that did not make her break out. I just love the way it gives my face an almost perfectly clean and smooth look. She used the strongest medication, accutane years ago in highschool but now that her skin is much better she swears by Pond's Cold Cream (crazy I know) and ZapZyt, an acne medication that you can buy at any local drug store to keep her skin clear.

I, too, have problem skin but it is much better since I switched to mineral makeup. I was in the health food store and found Larenim products. My skin showed signs of improvement within 3 days!

They have a product called Dusk til Dawn that is great for acne. It is in the "concealers" section on their website. It is a powder and you wear it over night. You just cleanse your face and brush it on. You can wear it under your makeup during the day too!

I also use the pressed mineral foundation instead of "over the counter" makeups. It is so light you don't feel like you're wearing a mask.

Check out their website: www.larenim.com. he The Your Healthy Skin page along with Kirsten's Weblog page gives additional info and testimonials.

There are quite a few mineral makeups out there. You just have to find the one that works best for you!

Good Luck!

I have some pimples on my face, and that i exploit L'Oreal bare Naturale mineral makeup. It doesn't typically look cakey, even though it can make my face look more suitable dry if i do not use moisturizer previously. i want to apply Garnier Nutritioniste moisturizer previously, and infrequently i am going to apply L'Oreal pores and skin Regenerist Serum as a primer, and it makes my makeup bypass on AMAZINGLY and it continues to be on invariably at the same time as i exploit it. also, in case you do commit to purchase the L'Oreal mineral makeup, i'd propose you to get a distinct brush because the L'Oreal brushes that comprise the makeup are scratchy and do not follow the makeup okay. I have a Japonesque Powder Brush which fee me about $26 at ULTA, and that is a good brush. great mushy, and that i have purely had like, 2 bristles come out of it and that i have owned it for type of three months now. i exploit push aside Brush purifier to sparkling my brushes it particularly is likewise astounding and takes the makeup off of the comb truly actually. you'll get each and each of the products I indexed above at ULTA. :) wish this helps!!

try cover girl acne cover up stuff and also clinique...
the little tube things (tinted acne cream)...and clinique cover up stick or concelear...
also...try using blush maybe...or mascara or something to bring the attention to ur eyes
good luck
xao:)
also...try getting an oil free moisturizer so u can use the treatment two times a day like u r supposed to...and by the way...the first couple weeks using an acne solution kit thing usually makes ur skin dry and itchy until you adjust...but...if u can't stand to have dry itchy skin for a couple weeks...what can i say...
i used to do what u do and i used a cover up followed with a powder foundation followed by blush to cover up my acne and it came out looking real gross...now i stopped wearing makeup(cept mascara and lipglosses)...and am using proactive fulltime and my acne has improved...and now i don't have to worry before school whether i have my makeup with me or worry about going swimming or getting water on my face:D

if you have very acne, the first thing you need to do is address it. it does not sound like the acnefree is working for you. i would suggest you go to a dermatologist to see what kind of acne it is in order to find the best solution (there are two types and need to be addressed differently). the dry itchiness is causing you more problems as your skin is inflammed. people with acnes still need to use a moisturizer. skin should not e dry. if you cannot go to a dermotologist, i suggest you with try proactiv or try the following as it has worked for my clients: go to a clinique counter and have your skin tested and start their 3 step program of cleanser, toner and moisturizer or go to kiehls as they have a skin care line for people with acne that works. also kiehls has a product that will accelerate the process. in addition to this, get facials every 2 months or as often as you can afford. this way, you will have a professional deep clean your skin and do the extractions to help your skin along. facial will help you greatly.

as for the make up, less is best. unfortunately, if the acne is bad, there is no way to hid it. visine will reduce the redness and concealer will help too but it will only do so much. i suggest you prime your face. this will help the make up stay on longer and even out your skin as best as possible. i suggest you use laura mercier's oil free face primer. then apply the foundation. use it to even out your skin tone. you need to use a good quality one so it will not build up in the recesses of your skin. then apply concealer. this way you will use less of it. apply it with a concealer brush. dust your face with loose powder and a very large brush. you never want to use a pwder foundation as you will have less control and it will build up on your skin. i recommend you use laura mercier products as they are the flawless skin people. it will not give you flawless skin but it is a very finely made product that gives great coverage and is very light weight. their concealer is a duo colour compact that you can mis to exact match your skin tone and it works best on acne. if you cannot get laura mercier, mac is readily accessible.

you should apply your make up with brush that you clean regularly and clean sponges (discard after each use. get them from the dollar store. cheap and works just as well). fingers have a lot of oils and germs on them which will make the skin worst. a clean brush and sponge will help your skin and better apply your make up.

make sure you remove your make up every night. this is key to healthy skin for anyone.

you should do microdermabration on your face. its like a little massager and it massages this type of lotion with balls in it taking off the few top layers of skin. this will make your face smoother and eventually your acne will start to dissappear. also get tinted foundation. they have some good ones at sephora. they also have this type of coverup made for zits and it comes in a green color and it makes it so the zits dissappear because the coloring does something to it. wash your face twice a day. change your face cleanser. clean and clear works well if you get those oil wipes it really takes all the oil away which causes alot of acne. and also putting astringent on your face at night clears the pores. also change your pillowcase often, the oil on your face gets on the pillowcase and then goes back onto your face.

how long have you been using acnefree?? if its been long enough to see results and you haven't, i'd switch products, i've used both acnefree and proactiv, and proactiv is my favorite.

but to cover an unwanted zit, i use visine to take the redness out and a concealer that it two shades lighter than my skin tone to cover it up. then follow wiht my regular makeup routine.

I agree with (^^look up there somewhere^^) Rachel.
Using make-up would only make the situation worse. All that make-up and the crap in it would get into your pores, and they'de either make the acne you do have worse, give you more acne, or both.

I suggest you find something that works for you and get rid of it all together. And if that product works for you, STICK WITH IT. Don't just get rid of the acne and stop. Keep going so it doesn't happen again.
