The U.S. doesn't give money to poor countries to enhance the lives of the people who live there. The U.S. gives money to the governments of poor countries to insure that American Government and industrial interests are met.
The U.S. government would gladly continue giving those governments money even if they knew that not one cent was being spent to increase the standard of living for the citizens.

If those who can give don't(people and governments) we in the rich countries are going get a lot more trouble in the future. Let me explain. It is just a matter of simple numbers..........the poor out number the rich by millions to one. I know that sounds almost ridiculous but it is true. Now if you and your family were poor, very poor and all around you there was wealth, what would you be inclined to do? Steal some of the wealth that abounds to keep your family safe and fed - if your country is very poor and all the countries around you are very poor, and to save your families you all get together to take some of that wealth, what happens is you make war on those wealthy around you. Once that starts the waring for wealth will grow, other countries who are poor will join the fight or starve to death. Pretty soon the world is at war, and the rich and powerful (with money and weapons) are so badly out numbered they will loose; it is just a matter of numbers - no social scientist has ever refuted this postulation. It is FACT. What we have done in the past is give the money to the wrong people we fed it through their governments and they stole most of it. Now we are doing better.....we in most cases give the money to NGOs and they distribute it properly. It is imperative that we continue to give and it is imperative that we try to help with more than just money. We can give time volunteering to those agencies (NGOs) and do what they deem necessary to get the job done. NOW, for the worst of all the news in this discussion. If all the food on the planet were divided evenly between all the worlds population we would all almost starve. We must work to improve their countries so they can produce the food they need to help themselves. A big job? Yes. But do-able. It takes most of all, a commitment to help and the acceptance of all mankind as brothers and sisters, it is our brothers and sisters that we work to feed. A good and noble cause. Keep giving.......make sure your gift counts spend your money and time wisely. Good luck!

Absolutely! (foreign aid) never reaches the ones that need it most. The "leaders" stuff their pockets and hide it in foreign bank accounts for when they might be put out of power. The poor continue to starve and die while the powerful pocket the aid money. Even food aid sent there rarely goes to the poor. The powerful can sell or trade food for stuff that will help them keep in that power. Neither the poor, nor do we, ever see the money again if at all.
Bono thinks he is gonna "save the world". Bull-oney! liberal baloney! If YOU send money, the same thing happens to it. And the poor keep dying hungry.

You said it about right, the third world's government leaders and officials, the elites, and their friends, are the beneficiaries for our American tax dollars, when did we ever think that we were.....go think. Also, donating should include the churches who ask of our monies for these causes, and also fail. But, no-one has any inkling for accountability for all of these monies, that is real bad, that we all allow it happen to us more then once. We are always paying double, and I do tide monthly, and it's "who" is responsible when monies reaching out to help the poor there, is being diverted into all of these socialites pockets, by lack of accountability, we are blindly condoning it. So, we will never see that place in our lives when poverty will be defeated......go think

No but we should do it in a way like supplies and see that what ever country we are giving it to is using it for what they say they are like we do here in our free programs of welfare. I think the rich corporations investments all over the world buying up everyones land and souls for slavery has to go though, for sure! that is giving them the power of Armies to invade the US and that is why I say deport them all, right now! Money or no money and Embargo on as well. But not this administration heck no they want this to happen? Dirty back room deals and then lie to our faces? When you snooze you lose in this game. Stay awake and keep asking wonderful questions and getting answers please no matter what? That is using our freedom wisely

since the inception of the welfare programs , in our country many families, who started on welfare are still on the welfare rolls and their offspring, their offspring and then n down the line every generation has been on welfare, ask your self , have we helped them or caused them to be welfare recipients for life , same as when we give to other countries , and in many country's that war lords keep the money for arms or the food etc they will sell for arms, so have we helped ? hell no giving things to people is never good as then they become dependent on it and stop trying to earn their own way, welfare should never be given to any one except the widows or Orphans and the elderly who have worked all of their lives, 80%of our foreign aid goes to Israel who has a higher standard of living than Americans how does that make sense? the news media doesn't show those things on the news , their maids chauffeurs etc,

we have poor people in our own country that needs help, and I'm not talking about helping the one's who don't want to work. I'm talking about helping the poor and homeless who have lost jobs and have tried to help themselves, and help the one's who have been laid off also. I think it's soooo dumb that if you get laid off and try to apply for benefits they do not want to help you. BUT....if you are just outright lazy or from another country they're all gunho on helping to give them benefits and not hardworking people who get laid off and only need it for a short time...but anyways NO I don't think we should help other poor countries we need to help ours first

No, giving money to poor countries makes allies later on. Funding terrorist groups is a whole another story because they can backstab you later (U.SA and al quaeda)
