I wanted to know after you have a tubal do they check them to make sure they are still tied? I had my tubal done in July 2006 and I go for my yearly visit in Feb. does it hurt and if they have come undone what do they do to check?

No they don't routinely check them. And they do still tie them. I am a surgical tech in the OR and have done this procedure many times. A tubal ligation is not having the actual tubes tied, they put free ties on the tubes and tie them as to block off the tubes. This is how it always has been done and yes it is possible for the ligatures to come untied. You can still become pregnant even if you had them tied and burned. Sorry it can happen I've seen it happen. They can still come untied and even if burned they can fuse back together.

If a tubal is done correctly it shouldn't come undone and there shouldn't be any pain. No they don't usually check them after they are done.

Mine were cut & burned so they couldn't reconnect.

The only way to check and see if they're undone is scope or ultrasound.

I don't think they actually tie them anymore... I could be wrong but I am fairly certain they cut the tubed and burn all the ends with a laser... and I'm almost certain they cannot come "untied." But again, I'm not and expert and neither are most people who will answer this. Best thing to do? Ask your doctor.
