Math problem....How many adults.....?

Question

The capacity of an elevator is either 20 children or 15 adults. If 10 children are currently in the elevator, how many adults can still get in?.....i can never get these questions right....

please explain how u got it....

The answer is 7 adults.

If the elevator's capacity is 20 children or 15 adults and only 10 children are in the elevator than the elevator is currently at half capacity.

One half of the elevator's capacity to hold adults is 7.5. Since you can't have half an adult, the answer must be 7.

10 children is half of the capacity of children allowed on the elevator. So you are left with a half full elevator....half of the total amount of adults is 7.5 but i wouldn't round it off just leave it as 7.5.

since 10 is half of 20 u just divide 15 by 2 which gives u 7.5 so if u round it it will give u 7.
