It means you don't go along with the majority of people, that you have an imagination or are more creative and experimental in your thoughts, ideas and beliefs. An idealist so to speak.

I think it means to move from the realm of the norm. To try and find something that is more creative and innovative.

To think apart from the accepted norm, look at things differently, see different possibilities, be creative, it used to be called brainstorming.

come up with a new idea, an extra ordinary one...different from any idea that already came up before..so perhaps your idea can be a new trendsetter for everyone else!
