Speakers do not require drivers unless they are USB type.
if you are not using USB type speakers than you need correct drivers for your sound card.
To see what type of sound card you have on your computer :
1-press windows function key at the same time with pause key
2-select hardware tab + device manager
3-click on sound video and game controllers
4-select audio sound card+update driver.point to internet
reboot the system
your speakers start to work now.
just make sure they are not muted.

There are 2 general types of speakers: Amplified where they plug into the wall and the computer. This is when the comuter does not have a built in amplifier.
If the computer has an internal amplifier, the speaker only plug into the computer.
They are NOT interchangable. Your new speakers should have the wiring configuration the same as the original speakers.
You could ask where you bought the speakers if you bought the right kind.

hm... most speakers on the market are plug and play devices. am guessing it is the drivers that are causing the problem. if u have a branded computer like HP or Compaq -- go to their website and then download the required "audio drivers"

see if that helps

Cheers
