on the bottom of payroll saying that:

By cashing this cheque form ABC Inc. you agree not to take assignments with the client from a minimum of six weeks.

my question is: Does this mean that I can't take any assignments from other agencies except current agency--ABC Inc agency?

Thanks

That is essentially a noncompete agreement that you are executing. It is between you and the agency that sent you to the office where you did the work. What it means is you agree not to take on new work assignments that are offered to you directly by the client company (the place where you did the work). Instead, you will not take any direct work from the client for a period of six weeks. In the meantime, you are still free to work for the Agency ABC, or any other agency that has work for you to do.

The ban is on going directly to the client and working for them. And you agree that if the company offered you employment, you will not accept any position for at least six weeks.
