I reformatted my hard drive and reinstalled windows, drivers, etc.. now I only have 640x480 (16 bit) pixels. I have tried to change it, but it will not move. I went to trouble shoot to change my monitor, but the only monitor listed is the default monitor and it will not let me drop down any other choices. What else can I do to try to fix this, or how do I find out if my monitor is listed. I installed the monitor cd, but no change?

I don't know what video card I have. I did reinstall drivers resource cd, and I don't remember the monitor cd going through a set-up per se, ya think I need to download drivers for the monitor or is it something else?

You are apparently having problems with your video display. To resolve this problem you first must determine whether you have onboard video, or an AGP Card. In both cases, you need to reinstall the drivers and ensure you are installing the correct version. If you have onboard video, you need to get your video drivers directly from your computer manufacturer website. If you are using a video add-in card, you need to get your drivers not from the manufacturer of your computer, but from the maker of the video card. The best approach is to download the drivers directly from the manufacturers website. Be sure to select the drivers that address the type and version of operating system you are using. This should resolve the display problem.
I recognized that you attempted to reinstalled the drivers directly from the utility disc you were provided with. However, upgrading your computer over the period you may have owned it can render the original drivers useless and warrant newer drivers.

Sounds like a problem with your video card Go into device manager you can do this going to control panel click on system then hadware tab then device manager check and see if their is any conflicting devices with a yellow ! next to them. If its your video card thats the problem right click on it and uninstall. then reinstall your driver. Wrong Driver could be causeing this double check this by going to driveragent.com for a free scan you need to allow active x controls to do this hope this helps

When you say you installed the monitor CD, was there a setup program on it that you ran? It should have been called setup.exe.
