This is my topic for an essay that I'm working on, but I need help to come up with 3 solid arguments to say that, Yes, Canada does need to decrease its tolerance level. Right now, the best one I have is that Canada has lost its own identity.. I need to more.. any ideas?

I suggest your flip the essay question over and also bear in mind that some areas of Canada have become more deferential (which is different than tolerant) of special interest groups than others. When the alleged rights of a minority trump those the majority, then I think we have it wrong.

So, I like your answer that Canada risks losing its identity and here are the questions I would pose to you to help you decide on a second argument:

1. Rather than have Canada DECREASE it's tolerance level, should new arrivals to Canada or minority groups INCREASE their tolerance level?

2. If everyone had increased levels of tolerance, wouldn't multiculturalism work instead of being threatened as it is now?

My wife is from Canada and in my opinion, I agree with you. I am from southern Virginia, by the way.

It is not just a national problem, it seems like people in Canada are just a little TOO 'live-and-let-live' about things. I remember my wife telling me a joke about how if you step on a Canadian's toe, he will apologize for getting his foot under yours.

No death penalty, no real dealing with the problem with the people in Quebec who want to seperate from the rest of Canada, and can someone please explain to me why the people of the 'First Nations' (what we call Native Americans, or Indians to the totally pollitically incorrect) get it so easy in Canada?!? I mean, in the States, we did some horrible things to the Indians in the past and need to say sorry every once and a while, but from what I understand, the only reason the 'First Nations' people get all their little benefits is because they were there first!?!

A little too tolerant, indeed!!!

Yes, absolutely. Multi-culturalism, rampant capitalism, plummeting standards of education and degeneration of mentality, rising crime committed by non-canadians, etc. We should import less turd world country useless parasites but instead promote The First Nation Peoples, the real Canadians. They can teach us a thing or two about spirit and give Canada its authentic identity. Natives for government!
