The answer is clockwise... This sounds really dumb, but this is how I remember it: In the summer it hot outside & you would go to the ice cream "counter" to buy dessert, therefore, in summer, the fan should go "counter" clockwise (looking up @ the fan), so in the winter it would go clockwise. Hope this helps. I only leave mine on low too, other speeds seem to cool the air too much.

It all depends on which way the blades are turned but ours are counterclockwise and I believe that that's how the are assembled from the manufacturer.......They need to spin in the direction of the edge of the blade that is closest to the ceiling
