For the same reason they had it 3000 years ago and will have it 3000 years from now: People are different and there are those who will exploit that difference to their own advantage. The 60's are prominent because that was the beginning of the information age.

Why do we have racism today. There has always been racism.

The Sixties happened because it was a left over from the failures of Reconstruction and the way the the black solider who was treated in WWII With the desegregation of the military by Truman the ball was set rolling for the 60's

The sixties were a turbulent time. Blacks were fighting for civil rights and their leader Martin Luther King, Jr. was assassinated.

racism seems to be an ongoing problem of our society. And it does't just effect the blacks, but all races.

it wasn't that racism was "born" in the 60's but rather it everyone became suddenly aware of it through the media reports of racial disruptions and the people involved in them.
