Alright, so I made the commended student but I missed the semifinalist cut off by a few points for the PSAT. Is being commended really worth anything or is it just a way to make people feel better?

What I mean is whether I should list this on a college app under awards/honors.

Yes, definitely list it. It won't get you any official scholarships or anything, but it shows consistent high achievement. Anything that helps you stand out is great.

You should probably list this first on your list of academic accomplishments.

National Merit is a highly regarded honor. Being a Commended Student means that you scored in the top 90 - 95% of your state's test takers. Maybe higher.

This is a fine achievement and should be listed on your college application and any scholarship applications.

Congratulations and best wishes as you move on to college.

List it, definitely, on your college app, but it brings you no official scholarship from the National Merit Scholarship Foundation. However, some colleges will offer you academic scholarship.

i'm no longer completely confident, yet from a PSAT learn type we had at our college, i've got faith its with regards to the 96th percentile nationally, (and purely the semifinalists are by using state), it relatively is approximately 2 hundred or so.
