Talk to the people in your class when you sit next to them, and join some clubs.

Ask a classmate where the good lunch spots or coffeehouses are around the area--even if you know the answer. Act as though you have no idea where that is, and ask for directions. Many times they're on the way and you can strike up a conversation, if not wangle yourself a lunch/coffee date out of it.

There are plenty of people there who are just as shy as you, and want an excuse to go talk.

Forming study groups. Go up to a group of people that seem cool and ask them if they want to study with you for the exams or even meet at a coffee shop to go study. From there, you should invite them to a game at your school or a party. It's not that hard. Just put an effort. Believe it or not, they are probably thinking the same thing you are. Good luck :)

If your school has a student union go there for lunch and hang out.. you'll meet some interesting people.. Try also taking part in some of the school's activites.. you meet new people that way.. and in your classes, try getting to know your neighbors.

which community college,i could have been your friend too?
Try joining any student clubs you have on campus, you might meet one.Don't rush to meet people.
Make it a commitment to talk to a new person every single day,you might strike a good friendship.
I don't have friends either people i tried to make friends with are like "working mums",they're too busy to fit me into their schedule.
If you are a foreigner like myself it might take some time but you must do your best to be nice to people and be approachable.Good luck

Take the incentive yourself to find study-buddies and or form study groups. People will usually be very open to that.
