First notice that the rectangle has two pairs of equal sides.

So 2x - 5 + 2x - 5 + x + x = 50

Thats a total of 6x - 10 = 50

So 6x = 60 which means x = 10

Formula is P = 2L+2W;
50= 2*(2x-5) + 2*(x)
50= 4x-10 +2x
50+10= 6X -10 +10
60= 6X
10 = X ; so 2(10) -5 =15 and x=10
two sides are 15, and two sides are 10
