What's wrong with America can be summed up in two words; lost identity. Over the last two centuries, we have forgotten what this country was intended to be, and let it become something perverse and ugly. We sacrifice what is right for what is easy, what is fulfilling for what is quick, and what is meaningful for what is outwardly pretty. It is said that what drives you ultimately consumes you. We have become a nation consumed by greed and self-indulgence. We have become so obsessed with making a living, we never stop to realize we don't even have lives. We neglect our families, our faith, our communities, and ourselves, all in the name of wealth and prosperity. Jesus once asked "What does it profit a man to gain the world, but lose his soul?". We have lost our soul, and gained little by it.
If I could change one thing about America, I would give it back it's identity, and it's soul.

personally, I feel that it's a rotten shame the way our government does NOTHING to help our homeless, There out on every street in every big city in our country... OUR people. How can these government fat cats sit in their grand homes, with their pockets fat with our money, and let men, women, and children go homeless and hungry. Is this the America we want? Will we end up the same way some day? If America would give homes, jobs and food for the homeless, ...well there's your big change.

America has gotten soft and lazy! We have way over-indulged ourselves, our kids with things like having the biggest cars, biggest houses, etc. (then not taking care of our own kids and asking illegals to clean our homes). We need to remember how much our predecessors struggled to form this country and get back on track!

Same as one of the answers before mine, and that is everyone getting back to the true values of debates and discussions, that brings more meaningful changes. By way of intellectual discussions, American leaders can make more educated changes, versus, all the political feelings used to condemn one and another views, and the lack of proof or truth within each issue aboard.

I would end the political polarization that has become so virulent in the last couple of decades so that we could go back to having honest dialog and respectful disagreements about political issues. I believe we as Americans have more in common than not, and if we focused on our common ground instead of our differences, we could make a lot more progress as a country and get back to our real American values.

Its a great country and all, and I know this is a very controversial issue, but I feel English should be the official language. If you're living in this country you could at least make an attempt to learn the language.

Besides replacing Bush, People in the U.S. need to be more tolerant towards each other. As we are all humans, we all need to be more patient. Maybe stop tattling on each other and treating each person with the individual freedoms that our country was based on, as well as with respect. Stop hating on each other and pretending life is a contest. Start loving the fact that we, as Americans, still have America.

Patriotism overall is basically nonexistent and the media is very slanted-I think if we did away with the 24 hour news channels we would be better off.

A constitutional amendment that would repeal the replace the 14th amendment. My slogan for this movement would be
"Repeal ambiguity and replace it with clarity."
