Iran is a diverse, rich (culture-wise) country. When you are in iran, you can't stay just in Tehran. Once you leave Tehran, you experience a whole new Iran. Once you step outside of the 7 million people population city, everything is different, even the language. If you go to Kermanshah, they are most likely going to speak Luri or Bakhtiari. If you go to Urumiyeh or Tabriz or Mahabad or Maku, they are probably going to speak Afshari Turkish, Azari, Armenian, Georgian, and Turkish. If you go to Mashad, Nishapur, and the other cities in Khorasan, they probably will speak Turkmen, Kurdish, & Dari. You go to Marivan, they will speak Kurdish. You go to Gilan, they will speak Gilaki. I can go on and on, but the point is the country is extremely diverse with many ethnical racies: Bakhtiari, afshari, kurdi, Qashqai, Turkmeni, Gilani, Azari, Armani, Gorjestani, Mazandarani, etc. Furthermore, the 2,500 years of monarchy provides a rich history filled with great kings and horrible kings, with golden ages and dark ages, with unity and civil war. The country of Iran is something different than other countries.

i had a great holiday there, i advice anyone who likes deserts and mosaics to go to Iran, lots of people speak english and want to practice it with you, so that you really can get an idea what life in Iran is like. If you are kind you even can get invited to someones house for dinner (or if you are very lucky a wedding)

It's supposed to be a lovely country. I think it's alot like the USA-the people are mostly decent, but their leader is a jerk who's trying to ruin it for the regular people that live there.
