Oh my goodness, I just recently discovered Vonnegut about 4 months ago. I'm in love with him. His writing is inspirational and witty and beautifully intelligent.
He makes me want to write, which I love to do and I love his political views and his outlook on life. His mind is a bit twisted, but that makes him all that more interesting.
So, yes, I think Vonnegut has influenced my life.

Hi ho. Kurt has influenced more astute readers than any modern writer I can name. Even folks who haven't read his works are influenced by him, whether they know it or not. The only other writer who comes close to his influence on modern America is Mark Twain. His works are the litmus test for cognative probity. Those who read his works and thought they were vapid are the shallow ones who never made it to the deep end of the pool.

Yes. He has a way of putting you in the habit of seeing things in their simplest, purest, basest, most true form. Sometimes beautiful, sometimes vulgar, sometimes funny. But always simple and true. He helps you make sense of the world in an age of information overload.

He reinforced my individuality. I read Harrison Bergeron and rediscovered the person inside of me that supports a human being's need to follow his/ her heart. He ridicules beurocracy. He reminded me of the dangers of giving power to stupid people.
