I am due to have a scheduled c-section on Feb. 12th due to a pelvic injury and am going a little nuts thinking about it. I have not had any kind of surgery before, that makes it a litte worse. If someone can ease my mind that would be great, but I also would like the truth of the matter. Thank you so much!!!

Try not to worry you will be fine. The epidural was not painful for me. There is pain after but take your meds every 4 hours and it isnt that bad. Focus on the baby and you will get through it. Good luck!

I know a lot of woman who had a c-section. Like any surgery it is scary. From what I have been told be prepared for the following...your husband may not be able to be with you in the room...depending on Dr., your condition, or hospital rules. I also know that the woman I spoken to where overwhelmed with all the machines and instruments, remember they have to have enough for two people, not just one. The actual procedure is interesting, (all of this I am sure your doctor can talk to you about) They will numb your stomach (how, I don't know) but they will tell you that from that point on you will fell pulling or pressure and no pain. The recover is a little hard. Any surgery on the stomach is difficult...that is how you get up, sit down, laugh, cough etc. That is all I can tell you from what I have been told.
Think of it this way at least you are prepared...my s.i.l, with her first was pushing for 5 hours when suddenly the doc. said they had to have an emergency c-section...quickly they whisked her away from her husband put her in a room with monitors, bright lights, instruments big enough for an elephant! But she was fine and so was the baby...she now 3yrs old.

You will be fine and so will the baby...c-section is now the most popular procedure now these days.

Im having a planned c section on the first of feb , i have had two others and it doesnt hurt while there doing it it hurts after though you cant cough or sneeze or laugh it does hurt what i found was a little relief is to use a pillow really really close to your belly when you feel like doing either of those and they dont let you leave the hospital until you have a bowel movement it will scare you because you will think your ganna pop your tummy open but you want so just relax the actual pain proberly gets better about a month after they take the stitches or staples out of your stomach you will be okay i promise its all worth it for our sweet little babies hey good luck and dont panic you will be just fine.

I've had two c-sections. One was an emergency c-section, the second was scheduled. I loved both my c-sections. I wouldn't want to give birth any other way. The recovery isn't as bad as some people make it out to be. (Usually people who haven't had them.) You're awake during the procedure, but you can't feel anything from about the boobs down. During my 2nd one, we were laughing and cracking jokes through the whole thing. They'll probably try to get you up and walking about 4 hours or so after your surgery. You'll probably be sore, so just take it as slow as you need to. By the 2nd day, you'll be up and walking around. My sister in law had a vaginal birth the same day I had my c-section, and her recovery was much worse than mine, because she had a bad tear. Another thing I liked, was you get an extra couple of days in the hospital. At the time, you might feel like you just can't WAIT to get home, but believe me, take advantage of the chance to have nurses and people around to help you out for those extra few days. You should use the opportunity to get the sleep that you won't get once you get home. You'll need it to help recover from the surgery.

The truth of the matter is that a C-Section hurts like hell to recover from. Be sure to ask the hospital for an extra girdle and try to find a little seat for your shower before you go in. I found it extremely difficult to stand in the shower.

Oh.. and if for some reason you have any pain during surgery you CAN ask to be put under. I wish I knew that.
