I don't know, but there is a recipe for homemade mouse repellent here:

I've also had great success with this live trap in my house:

It’s also available for $2 cheaper here (although I prefer to buy it from the other place since I’m not a big fan of PETA):

I've caught over ten mice with it so far and it can be used over and over indefinitely. Or, you can try making the free homemade humane trap described here:

If you do live trap mice, please be sure to check the traps several times a day and release the mice promptly, approximately a mile away from your home. It is much more cruel to allow a mouse in a live trap to slowly starve to death than to kill it quickly with a snap trap. When you release the mice, do it in an area with some sheltering bushes or plants.

The absolute cruelest traps are glue traps. Mice have been known to gnaw off their own limbs and tear off their skin in an effort to escape, as they starve or dehydrate to death or suffocate in the glue. It can take three to five days for them to die. Poison isn't any better, as the mice die slowly and painfully from internal bleeding. It can take up to a week for them to die, and then they smell as they rot behind your walls.

It doesn't take much extra effort to be kind. You will feel better and so will the mice! Good luck!

certain, they honestly do!!! we moved to a house contained in the course of a container and we further packing containers with us that were saved earlier transferring in. then, we all started seeing mice! we placed traps out and stuck some yet we scattered moth-balls in closets, empty drawers and in the back of furniture and residential equipment... we talked about that they left and not in any respect considered any. our traps are nonetheless accessible yet we've not stuck any mice on the grounds that then. it stops new ones from coming in and the smell makes those interior seem for clean air. once you spread the moth-balls be effective that your position is properly ventilated because you receives dizzy and nauseated. also wash your hands o.k. after spreading the moth-balls as you don't want it to go back in contact consisting of your pores and skin or breath it.

I have a storage room where I keep moth balls and it does help to repel them but it will not get rid of them altogether..Moth balls also keep spiders away.....My Husband is a hunting guide and they put moth balls in the canvas tent also to keep Bears away...I believe him they have been in the outfitting business for almost 40 years and have never had a problem with bears and their hunting area is in the middle of the wilderness ...Make sure they are not where pets or kids can get to them....Good Luck

Moth balls, lime and spirit of turpentine gets rid of snakes.

Nothing but rat poison or rat traps with peanut butter or chocolate or catch on sticky paper to catch a rat.

Check opening around kitchen pipes, dryer vents or dryer duct, or washer pipe in floor are easy way for rat to get in. Stuff with steel wool or spray the expandable foam to seal the opening.
