i have a bacholer degree in biology but now i am thinking about going to columbia university and would like to go into pr for the arts or business. any suggestions on how to use my degree to do a master's degree in these areas.

If you want to get into public relations (which is what I assume when you say "pr"), you should probably plan on brushing up on your writing skills. Sure, feel free to attend a college for a master's degree but it would be more important for you to take every opportunity you can to develop your writing skills. Great writing skills are the key to public relations.

One thing I do to improve my writing is to write for the Web site Epinions. Epinions is a consumer review site where you can write reviews about products you have around the house. If you write good reviews, they actually earn a few pennies. I've now written hundreds of reviews on Epinions and it has helped me tremendously as a writer. I've since been recruited to other Web sites, based on my Epinions experience. The link to Epinions is below.

I used to be a magazine editor and still do a fair amount of freelance writing, so I know something about public relations. Whatever you choose, good luck!
