basically im referring to narrow minded stereotypes and generalizations. people tend to label a certain characteristic on groups such as races in this case and when you dont fall in line with them suddenly you're trying to be "what you arent" . im mostly black but there are so many ppl that say i "act white". first off the idea that you can act a race is idiotic and if you think otherwise dont waste my time - thats pure ignorance. and the fact that i just dont find blk guys attractive sends a lot of black pl over the top. they group that together with how i act, seak, music i like and boom its "i dont know why shes trying to be white". i guess its kind of funny but it does annoy me at times. stereotypes are incredibly rediculous - they take the tiniest bit of truth (a large community of blacks being "ghetto" and then apply that to the entire race or at least the majority. its funny that word - majority. if you havent met 9/10 of all the some 13% of black americans - u hve no argument.

Well, it doesn't happen too often, but whenever I have run into a person who has some kind of negative comment to make about "blacks" - especially when it touches on such "stereotypes" as "lazy" "criminal" "ignorant" "inferior" and similar adjectives, I have always grinned and said something like "Gee, I guess Johnny Cochran must have painted that black on himself then, because he suuuure couldn't have got to be who he became if he had been a REAL black man, I mean what with all that lazy, criminal, ignorant, inferior stuff in his system. Yeppers, that's the answer - the guy was a "white man" who dyed himself black.
P.S. I sure hated that he defended O.J. because that guy was guilty bigtime, but boy oh boy , that man was Perry Mason deluxe LOL. and it would have been worth the two or three hundred bucks he probably charged just to sit and talk with him for an hour.

this is a sad (and yes VERY ANNOYING) result of our societies focus on stereotypes and "othering". "Othering" is the practice of separating ourselves from those we think are different, referring to groups as they or them when really all humans are we and us. We are all the same, same basic wants, needs, feelings, and potential . . .
