It would be a huge increase in salary but i've never been there and would be moving alone.

Depend on your dependence on city life, and how far you would be from the big city in Alaska.
If you're the independent type and are comfortable with a walk on the wild side, the north country is the best.

Do you already have a job lined up? Alaska has a higher cost of living then Hawaii does. It does get really cold up there sometimes 50 below zero.
