In Europe they had the Spanish Flu (a plague), yellow fever, and small pox. In the United States small pox, yellow fever and measles were common.

They had a very bad dose of the colonials and it's wasn't very nice.
Especially if you had to use a toilet just after one of the sufferers had used it.
