I was at a bar and terrified that the electricity was going to go out at midnight so I called the place where we payed $300.00 a person and made them show me proof that they had a back up generator before purchasing 20 tickets which totalled $6000.00.

They also showed me proof that there would be 10 extra security guards there to prtect everyone. It was scary then nothing happened and I allowed myslef to get sloshed after that point. You should have told us yours. Maybe you cna add it to your details.

I was probably eight or nine during that time. I was totally freaked out when I heard the news. I understood why they would think that, and it terrified me to think that I wouldn't live for another day. I can still remember thinking about the world ending back then.... I was so confused about the situation. I remember being relieved the next couple of days after the New Year to find that the world was not ending and I was still alive.

hmmmm.....I was only six and I remember all the commotion....but I didn't really worry about it. I was, after all, six years old. Figuring out how to do addition with 3 numbers was probably my biggest problem.

Looking back on it now, what was the big deal? I mean, why buy all that stuff if the world is going to end? Will you really need it?
And anyway, if the world were to end, would you even be around to be all upset about it? Or even remember it, for that matter?

I didnt think the world was going to end, but my uncle and grandpa thought it was. They went out and got generators assuming that the power would go out when the world ended, which is kind of stupid because when the world ends will you really need power? My family and I were sort of above that whole thing, we didnt believe it one bit. Then it hit 2000, and we're like "Yeah we knew it, the world isnt over."

I didn't hear the "world was ending" but all the worry about all the computer systems thinking it was going to be 1900 instead of 2000. Well, as we know, we're still here and it didn't happen!

There were a lot of people who were convinced the world would end at the millenium, even though 99-00 was not the real millenium. In the year 1,000, it was the same. Thousands of people gathered on a mountaintop in Italy to await the arrival of the Lord.

I do. On New Years Eve I was pregnant with my daughter and fell asleep! I woke up at about 2am.and saw all the power, gas and water was still running and laughed my head off!
What a scam. Where are all those Y2K 'experts' who scared the heck out of everyone? Are they in hiding? They got it very wrong didnt they?
On New Years Eve my local supermarket sold completely out of batteries, matches, torches, canned food and toilet paper! People were stockpiling big time!
My parents planted a vegetable patch, stockpiled grain and seeds in gallon drums!
Funny now isnt it?

I rolled my eyes at all the people who thought the world was going to end. It was so funny to me how people were freaking out over, what was to me, just another new year.

It was religious fanatisism. So many people thought it was time for the Apocalypse that it was time for the world to end and "rapture".
