Learn music theory and chord progressions, especially the one-four-five chord progression.

In the key of C, one-four-five is C,F,G.

In the key of G, it's G, C, D.

Well first you must have a sense of pitch.

Take guitar lessons. Bonus: If you can play basic guitar well, you can transfer your skills to a bass guitar.

Take piano or keyboard lessons. This will greatly help you w compositions/music writing skills. Also, piano teaches you left & right hand coordination, and rhythm.

If you want to do vocals, either take private singing lessons or join a choir to train your voice.

Note: You can also attempt to use instruction videos and/or sheet music in place of lessons (if you have a lot of natural talent to start with).

Lyrics are hard for some; easier for others. Try starting off by writing a few poems. That will help you. Study lyrics of several songs you feel are lyrically captivating. Observe the structure involved.

PS You should eventually buy a track recorder or use computer software enabling you to lay down all your instrumental tracks.

The lyrics are the easy part (and lyrics doesn't have a 'K' in it) but for the rest you'll need to learn how to read and write music if you're planning on writing it down on staff paper (making it sheet music) so that someone else can read and play it. I suggest you take piano or guitar lessons.

I usually just strum along until I get something that sounds good. Then right the notes that your playing down.

Also I would look in your hometown to see if they have a musicians workshop. Going to those really help out as well.

You know that your answers here aren't worth a whole lot. When you're about 1000 times more awesome than most people answering, their answers don't count for much.

Take theory, composition and history classes along with vocal and guitar lessons.

***********

That's why you take theory and composition classes. They teach you how to write music.
