Soylent Green Crackers

There is nothing about the government of that day in the movie. There is info about the giant corporation, Soylent Green, which controls the food supply, and there is obviously a police force, so presumably there is some kind of government, but there is no info in the film about it. (In Ron H's comment above, where he says euthanasia was mandatory at a certain age, I believe he must have been thinking about "Logan's Run." In Soylent Green, remember, there were a lot of old people, including Sol, who went to the center voluntarily. And I don't remember its being said that the centers were run by the government.)

Soylent Green is a 1973 science fiction movie starring Charlton Heston, Edward G. Robinson, Leigh Taylor-Young, Joseph Cotten and Chuck Connors. It is loosely based on the 1966 science fiction novella about overpopulation by Harry Harrison, Make Room! Make Room!, but diverges into its own plot points and ideas.

The film's title refers to the fictional artificial food product at the center of its plot. Due to the cult popularity of the film, the term "soylent green" and the movie's famous last line have become something of a catch phrase. Many subsequent works have referenced Soylent Green for dramatic or comedic effect.

Though not considered as one of the main food groups, Soylent Green nonetheless provides a rich, nutritious source of protein, calcium and vitamins that a growing body needs and is to be avoided by Vegans.
Soylent Green, if processed in the US, has a much higher fat content than any other country and therefore should be consumed sparingly as part of a fat-free diet.
