hi,iam trying to cast statues at home and i need to know from experianced people on what is the easiest material one can get and work with at home,to cast hard smouth statues,about 30 inch high,weather are transperant or non ,besides gypsum and cement of course, thankyou.

If you contact an artist supply store or some ceramics supply places, you will find that there are a lot variations on Plaster of Paris, some of which are harder and more water proof, some of which are designed for casting into blocks and the carving like marble but softer.

plaster because it is easier to carve into, but you need to put a glaze over it to protect it and give it that glassy look.
