To what extent do the people we meet at work or at play influence and stimulate our development and give us a sense of proportion give us a sense of who we are?

Only if you spend a lot of time with them and become friends. You have mutual understanding and relationship; thus they become a part of you and they influence you in some way.

In general, all people at work or any other place, want to belong because it helps boost their morale.

I expect nothing from nobody nowadays and people nolonger seem real to me. The people I meet give me no sense of who I am. Not even my husband who is off in his own computer world.
