Jake,
Skyler's an awesome name for a baby girl. It's cute, but stong. It will serve her well.

I've always liked the name. Until I read the Motley Crue biography and the lead singer talked about his daughter Skyler dying from cance. It was so sad. Changed the way I felt about the name though.

I know a lot of Skylers and do not care for the name. How about Chelsea or Kaylee?

It's different, I like it. None common is what I look for. Originality is best and for Skyler as for nickname is Sky which makes it great in general. You can also use as a first, middle and surname which makes a great flexible name to play with.
The boy's and girl's name Skyler \s-ky-ler\ is pronounced SKY-ler. It is of Danish origin, and its meaning is "fugitive; giving shelter". Phonetic spelling of Schuyler, brought to New York by 17th-century settlers.
Skyler has 9 variant forms: Schuyler, Schyler, Skielar, Skielor, Skyelar, Skylar, Skylen, Skyller and Skylor.
Skyler is a very rare male first name and a very rare surname.

Loved it as a man in the TV show "Sky King". Who cares. My neice was named Megan. She hated it. She found out that she could legally change her name to Kathleen when she turned 16. She did the research and went to court and legally changed her name to Kathleen with the full blessing of her parents. Hey you can use any name you want. Her grandparents call her "Megaleen". No harm done. Kathleen is now studying prelaw at Boston University.
