I became friends with someone on the net. We have spoken both on the net and on the phone...and well, we seem to get along well. Just wondering how many of you have done this or would do this given the chance?

Don't go alone - - take a friend or a group of friends the first time you see him. Take in a movie and go out to eat or something. Encourage him to bring a friend along too if you want. My daughter met a guy she had met through a chatroom and her brother went with her. It was good that he did. Even though they had chatted on the phone and over the Internet, being with each other for the first time was sort of weird. He wasn't totally what she expected.

It never hurts to be extra cautious. So be careful.

I've met the person that I plan on marrying online sort of. We were introduced by a mutual friend but since he lives a few states over the net is how we communicated before he was deployed. Now it's how we communicate because of the circumstances. Both of our families are very involved and communicate with each of us as time allows.

Besides being careful and taking your time, I think you could do a lot worse than meeting someone for a romance on the Internet. I came very close to that a couple times, but in each the women, I guess, got cold feet. One I was really very sad about loosing since she was very special and we had a unique connection. When meeting was inevitable, she "disappeared," changing her email address. So it goes, even on the Internet. Que Serra Serra.

My boyfriend of 2 years and I first began talking online, but we knew we went to the same university. Even though we lived on the same campus, we didn't meet in person for 8 months.

I've also made friends online through different message boards for common interests, and I've met a few of them.

Sure I have met lots of folks from the net in person. One on one and in group settings. I have traveled out of town or stayed in town. We have had dinner dates, gone to dances, gone to parties, and yes gone to bed (not to sleep) If when you meet someone that you are not happy with just leave and leave gracefully. And never call again

Yes I did meet someone on the internet. I moved to his state and was crazy in love! But, things didn't work out. It wasn't his fault at all. We just both had different live styles, and they didn't mesh. But, I will always love him. He was and I am sure still is, a wonderful man!!

Yes, yes. I've met a few people. Always meet in a public spot though, unless the possibility of ending up chopped into little pieces appeals.

I met my boyfriend of one year (we live together) on MySpace.

Yes, MySpace. Don't mock me, it's embarrassing enough as it is.

i have never met anyone personally but have wanted 2. just make sure it is somewhere in the public eye and let someone know what you are doing. there's many predators out there so it doesn't hurt to be careful. if you feel comfortable enough to meet, go for it.

F*CK NO! Just because someone sounds nice on the phone, or you get along with them online, does NOT mean that they are okay to meet. If you really want to meet them, which is the worst choice, may a suggest that you bring mace, or pepper spray with you, just in case they are a creep.
