I enjoyed it when it came out.

The theme, I think, is how fallacious the belief is that it would be better to take the human element out of the actual launching of nuclear weapons (As seen in the opening scene where a soldier refuses to do his duty to launch missles during a drill).

It was a warning about relying on machines AND about how close we are to a nuclear holocaust, I think.

If you mean the movie with Matthew Broderick, yes, it was a good movie. Why was it created? To make money, of course. But it was also meant as a warning.

i love that movie. when i was younger the voice of the computer really creeped me out.
couldn't tell you why it was created. does there have to be a reason? someone had a very good imagination though.

I love it and it came out in the eighties during the cold war.. check out RUSSKIES.
