i don't want to go to buy a female and then get a male... or even worse, get a prego female... how can you tell if she's prego?

If you buy the Guinea Pig at a pet store such as Petsmart they will tell you if it is a male or female. Also you need to know that you can't tell the sex of a Guinea pig till it is at least 6 months old. If you Google Guinea Pigs, you'll come across plenty of sites that tell you how you can tell the sex of the pig but only if it is 6 months old, and most pet stores sell them under 6 months old. So other then having a vet go with you to make sure it is a female then I would suggest looking around and finding a trusted pet store. Petsmart is a good place to go, I got both of my females from there, and they are actually females!

Well, with a mature pig there's no problem, their scrotum is HUGE! But pics help, and if you press gently right above their genitals, a penis will pop out if it's a male. Honestly, the pet store should of demonstrated for you.

If you feel bumps on it's belly, it's a girl. If not ,it's a boy. At least that's how I found out my hamster was a girl!
