just curious....is H2 considered an element? i know it's a diatomic element, but is it also an element in general?

An element is something that can't be divided to become two different elements. H2 would divide into H and H, which are the same element.

hydrogen gas is considered an element, it is an element that is unstable with just 1 hydrogen atom so therefore it needs 2 or more, same thing with Oxygen.

hydrogen gas is a diatomic molecule. Hydrogen atom makes up the molecule. The atom is the element.
