Congratulations, you've bought her a present that sucks all year round!

A birthday is a very personal day, do you agree? It's the day you were born and presumably specialized for her. Typically the women are the house keepers, and let me tell you, it's a very thankless job, one that we can resent a lot of the time. A vacuum cleaner is a necessary household tool, like a tire on a car. To buy her something even if she needed it, to perform a thankless task is really insensitive. Again it's a personal day, it should be a personal gift, something for just that person. I have to give you credit for asking. Most men would just brush it under the carpet and be subject to the same reaction year after year. But you decided to get to the bottom of what the issue was, and for it we can tell that you are truely sensitive. Take my advice and your wife will be very happy, in turn might make you very happy.

So you bought her something to work with did you?
Not a good choice,
Birthdays are personal and you should have bought her something like jewellery, perfume or chocs and flowers.
Hovers(for the garden) and hoovers(for the floors) are things that are bought anytime you cad, or are you just trying to wind up all the ladies?

Are you talking about a Hoover vacum? Most women don't like to get appliances as gifts from their husbands or boysfriends. Maybe next time a nice piece of jewerly or clothing might suffice.

ok, if this is a joke, that's kinda funny. but if you're serious.... uh oh! You see, on their birthday, christmas, and anniversaries, women want sentimental things, flowers jewellery candles, that sort of thing. Practical items should be saved for mother's day, i believe. by giving her a hoover, she interprets that as "I want you to vacuum" not "i love you". you need to make this up to her.

do you mean a Hoover?... like a vacuum??... That is a horrible gift unless it's what she asked for... fix it... buy her some jewelry and apologize... just say "I am a man and I don't really know any better!!!"

House hold appliances arent good birthday gifts.Your wife wants to feel you appreciate her,not that you wanther to vaccum something or do more work.

One must wonder if there was an ulterior motive...Perhaps you want to use it yourself! ;o) If this is the case, then indeed I see why she would be so upset. One should never deny their good wife such a pleasure as that!
