In a bathymetric map, what does it mean when the contours are close together, versus large spacing between the contours?

The closer the contours lines are together, the steeper the incline. Far apart means almost level.

B. the land is steep. The steeper the relief the closer the lines. AT 90 degrees the lines can not be drawn, the lines will merge will the contour lines above or below them.

A sharper slop
if each contour drops 5 feet think of it this way:
5 contour lines 5 feet apart total of 25ft will give you a drop of 25ft
let say you had 2 even space contours 12.5ft the drop off at 25ft the drop off is 10ft
