No, due to the new HIPAA Privacy Acts, you can no longer get anyone's death certificate (since 9/11). You must show just cause and relationship for one. You must state a reason for needing one i.e. settling of the estate, but if you want one just to have it, you are not entitled, unfortunately.

Go into on your download Death Certificate in Texas and if you'll keep looking you may find one from the state itself for $10.00 s/h pd. Some will try to rip you off and charge a big sum, they'll tell you what you need in order to obtain this certificate usually you fill out a app. I had to send a copy of TDL. and Social Security card fax to them. You file out the form on the net, they'll tell what you need, it'll be in Austin. They need all the id they can get just to prove you are a relative. You can't read any ones will unless whatever atty. that probates the will will tell you. Lots of Luck.

A death certificate is issued by the attending physician or County Coroner. Copies can be had from them. I don't know why any immediate family wouldn't be allowed to read a relatives will unless there isn't one. That doesn't mean cousins, aunts or uncles. It may not mean brothers or sisters if the person was married. I believe it is up to the executor of the will but I could be mistaken.

Go to the county of death's web site. If you have all of the decedant's information, you should be able to obtain one. There will be a cost for this. As far as reading someone elses will, I believe that that is in the hands of an attorney, or the executor of the will, and you will have to contact them.
