Mr. Marty Robbins died of kidney and liver failure after heart surgery 8 December, 1982. A great man and wonderful singer.

In October 1982, he was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. Two months later, he suffered his third major heart attack (his second arrived in early 1981), and although he had surgery, he died on December 8.

Sept. 26, 1927 to December 8, 1982, He called me at work to promote an album when I was a D.J. He didn't call on the "On the air" line. It was nice. I asked him why he never drove in the INDY 500. He answered: El Paso! Ha!

Heart bypass surgery. It was a new way back then to unclog arteries and he was one of the first to have it knowing it was risky. He had had 3 heart attacks since 1969.
