Address the magistrate as Your Honour - no matter the sex.

Also, you will be required to stand for the Magistrate whenever he/she leaves and enters the room. If you happen to leave the room, once you have reached the door, turn and bow your head at the Magistrate. The same applies when entering the court room. He will probably not even look at you, but you have to do it. (I am from Australia and this is what he have to dom not sure if it is the same wherever you are)

Keep level headed and calm, do not get angry or swear. Dress appropriately and wear a tie. Take two copies of any documentation you wish to present (one for yourself and one for the Magistrate to look at). Maintain eye contact with the Magistrate when addressing him. Speak clearly and loud, do not mumble or mutter words under your breath.

What this terrorist was planning to do is despicable and has rightly been punished for his planning. What we do not know is what the alleged attacker did to put him behind bars. It seems to me that crime is crime and the degree of a crime is not relevant. A crime is an act which could and does terrorise an innocent person even when no actual violence occurs. There is no such thing as a victimless crime as someone somewhere suffers in varying degrees. The shop lifter causes the price of goods to be increased. The insurance money fraudulently claimed causes every body's premiums to increase., and so on through to the more direct and violent crimes. So should it be that everybody has the right to take some form of retribution on those that have committed a crime one up the scale from their own misdemeanour. I think not as this would escalate the violent crimes both in and out of prison. I to hate the terrorists but remember we are a western civilised society and should never, never condone or encourage anarchy. A very interesting question which will produce some intelligent comment as well as the plain idiotic.

I would address them as if you were talking to a judge. Be respectful and polite. Your honor, may be a proper way to address this person.

your Honor, and for the love of all that is good please remember
to leave the cellphone off or in the car, and don't bring anything that could be considered a weapon into the court house or you might not make it to the court room.and also bring anything to present to his/her honer that will prove you're case.
