Will I have to format them or anything for them to play on a burnt cd?

yes there should not be any problem at all, you can burn the songs into 2 formats, the first is an audio cd (there should enter about 15 to 20 songs) or you can make an mp3 cd. The first option it will play anywhere, in any audio equipment or radio, the second one you must have to be careful, cause if the mp3 is a protected mp3, it should not play in all the devices

MP3 is the best format, you can play this anywhere in MP3 player and also in Ipod

you can burn them in cd as MP3 (120 songs or more)

or convert them CD songs format (15 songs per CD)

It depends on the device you will be using for CD playback - not all CD players can read mp3 files.
