I'd like to think I would intervene on the side of justice and good. But cowardice and self preservation might weigh heavier.

i saw this happen when i was a teenager at college outside an abandoned pub car park on a main street. I walked past to see a large crowd and then i was disgusted to see the people surrounding the victim stood watching. I called the cops- get this- i know for a fact that the station was right around the corner and it took them more than 15 minutes to arrive at the scene by which time the guys who hit the man and ran off with his briefcase was getting up- the crowd around didn't go to help him up-i hustled past the people and went up to him and asked if he was ok and if he needed an ambulance. He said he was ok and that i should leave. I was told by the police to stay there until they arrived- once they arrived they told me to go home and not even ask a statement off me. I have no idea what ever happened apart from the police calling me back to confirm on my mobile that it was me who reported the crime... maybe the victim provoked something but i noticed that people would rather be spectators than help.... i still don't understand

I would definitely step in...no doubt about it. It's because everyone walks on by that they have the face to do stuff like mugging.

If there was a knife or other weapon involved, I'd take a pic. with my phone if I could and phone police.

An elderly lady was robbed after getting her pension from the post office, a lad riding a bike snatched it off her. I would soooo love to take an old handbag out with me, be careless with it and get it snatched....see I'd fill the bag with dog shite first! That'd be great fun!

I live in a very secluded place in the country and haven't ever run into this situation, but if I did I know I could never just walk on by and not do SOMETHING to help. (even if it is only calling 911 or screaming to get attention from others to help.)

Well I once saw a man beating his girlfriend in the street and when I went over ,he smashed a lager bottle on the edge of the pavement and ran towards me with the jagged edge shouting 'do you want some?' there was no way I could help,I was terrified, even a man would have thought twice

I would have to do something- I couldn't live with the guilt if I didn't....
I saw a baby in a car one time unattended... the car was running, so presumably the person thought they'd leave the air on...
I called the police! They got there before the parent came out....

Being the weak girl that I am, I would probably be the one getting beat and robbed. No, but I would ask someone to help them cause I'm just not physically capable.

I haven't ever been in that situation but I'd like to think I would do something. I couldn't live with myself if that person died and I could have done something to stop it.

If there is only only guy beating on someone, yeah i will go over and do something, but if its more than one person doing the beating, thats why there is a cell phone and 911

i'd help in every possible way i could, but if i knew that it was somebody who deserved it then i'd stand by and watch.if it was a mugging/robbery on an innocent person, then i'd try to intervene,i say that now,but put in the situation,i may react different,i may be froze to the spot or adrenalin will take over, and i'll just storm over without thinking of the consequences.good question.
