Yes it can hurt your baby very badly. Second hand smoke is very dangerous. You quit smoking so you could have a healthy baby, so don't let them smoke around you. How dare they? If they smoke around you, they don't care about you or the baby.

Second hand smoke is dangerous. It can cause a low birth weight baby. Also after the baby is born, it can cause the child to develop asthma and increases the risk of SIDS(where the baby suddenly dies for no apparent reason). Either ask him not to smoke around you or the baby, or leave the room. If he can't smoke somewhere else for the sake of your child, then ask yourself if you really need to be with him. As far as the beers you drank before you knew you were pregnant, don't stress. Just don't do it now. Also at 6 weeks, the heart, brain and various other very vital organs are developing, so be sure to eat right and take your prenatal vitamins. Folic acid is crucial for brain and spinal cord development right now, so make sure to take the vitamins. Other ways to keep the baby healthy would be to avoid getting too hot(no spas and call a dr if you begin running a fever), lifting things that are too heavy(I'd say about 25 lbs), and try to get plenty of water and rest. Please make sure that you are having regular prenatal check ups as well. Good luck.

Second Hand Smoke is actually worse for you that Smoking your own cigarette. When you smoke what you inhale is filtered. What you breathe in Second hand isn't filtered for you. I would stay away from them when they are smoking, and ask them to take it outside or go to another room. They say that by stopping the habit of smoking before the start of the 2nd trimester you can almost completely reduce the effects that you had put on your baby by smoking. As for having a drink, Many people drink before they know they are pregnant, and as long as you don't do it now your baby will be fine. Just make sure your BF and his friends or whoever respects that your pregnant and you only want a healthy baby. Then maybe they will respect you and take the smoke outside and away from you!!

Think of it this way, ANYTHING you eat, drink, smoke, inhale etc will filter through you and into that baby. Second hand smoke is terrible for you, imagine how it affects someone who's lungs are just developing.
I'd ask your boyfriend not to smoke around you (and I'd stay away from the bar) and if he won't do it for you, do it for the baby!
If he won't, then maybe he doesn't love that baby as he may say...
Vitamins will help you and the baby become healthier
Good luck!

Yes it will. It's good that you quit smoking. I know that was hard. Anyway, you and your baby is one now. So, you are taking in all the smoke and it goes right to the baby. So, you need to tell you bf to stop smoking infront of you. If he cared he will stop. My moms a doctor, and i work with her five days out of the week. I should know this. I hope i helped. If i didn't, i hope someone will give you what your looking for.

It's just as important to stay away from second hand smoke as to not smoke. Second-hand smoke could even possibly be worse for you and the baby. There's nothing you can do about the smoke that you breathed in, and the chances of it having done bad things to your baby already are slim to none, but from now on, you shouldn't be around smoking people if possible.

Yes it can affect the baby. Second hand smoke contains nicotine, you breath the second hand smoke, the nicotine in the second hand smoke enters your bloodstream, nicotine passes through the placenta to the baby, your baby gets a dose every time you breath the second hand smoke. You quit smoking yourself, that's great, congrats! Now continue to protect your baby by avoiding second hand smoke. Recent studies have found that increasing your vitamin C, E and beta carotine intake can ~possibly~ help with pulmonary problems in babies linked to smoking, not a reason to smoke while pregnant, but it could help. Consult your doctor before taking supplements, even some vitamins may be unsafe.

My husband smokes. But he is NOT allowed to smoke in our home or around me {he goes outside and dont let him use the excuse its cold out because we live in ND where it gets -40 below and he still goes outside}. Its that simple he has the right to smoke if he chooses I have the right not to be exposed to it. And when I was pregnant that never changed. Our home and my car is a smoke free zone and he is mature enough to respect that.
I wouldn't be to paranoid about the second hand smoke but anything that enters into your body will cross the placenta and affect the baby. If he chooses to smoke around you, you have the right to MOVE AWAY from him so you are not inhaling it. You said you quit smoking but you didn't mention if you stopped drinking. Drinking will cause more harm them your smoking will
Good luck

Yes, it can affect your baby, but there is no way to know if it has or not. Don't stress out about it now, because that won't be good for baby either.
Stay out of the karaoke places, or ask if your friends can find a non-smoking place to hang out. That's what I did....9 months of staying out of those places....and it's better for me that I did.
Don't worry, rather do what's right for you now that you know you're PG!!
Good luck!

there is a small chance the second hand smoke to your unborn child can cause low birth weight...However, I am a smoker and I smoked the entire time I was pregnant. My daughter weighed in a 5 pounds, 9 1/2 ounces, 16 1/2 inches long as a premature delivery by 3 weeks. If it bothers you, ask your husband to go outside to smoke.
