It is the first snow fall in my area and I dont have any salt for my drive way. Is there any alternative?

Yes your shovel only. Only about 10% or less of people use salt on their driveways. You are not trying to melt all the snow you are trying to remove the snow.

no there's nothing that works as good as salt,,you got snow and we want some and cant get it, i,ll make a trade with you ,i,ll give a dry drive way ,for a snowed over one,my wife is driving me nuts,she wants snow.,and we cant get any here in Tennessee,all jokes aside though,,there's nothing that will work as well as the rock salt for the drive ways,,good luck,i hope this help,s.

Try removing it with a snow shovel. It's better for the environment than using salt.

You could use salt that you use on food its not as effective but it does work i use it on the steps sometimes when i run out of drive way salt

Kitty Litter

Anything that will provide grip, and not wash away.

Salt only works above -5 Celius anyway
and it is bad for the environment
your car
your lawn
your clothes

Good luck!
Oh, and think about wearing golf shoes if it get slippery.
Then go buy some of those slip on spikes (most stores sell them now).

Sand will help with traction. Even table salt will help if you have that on hand just takes a lot.

Some people put dirt in their driveway over the snow but i don't know if it works

Cat litter or sand will help you with traction, but they won't do anything to melt the snow.

Just go out there real quick before your walk or drive on it and sweep or shovel it off if you are able.
