I want to name my baby Timothy after the man I love. However, he is not my baby's father. I was dating another when I met Tim at school. My family thinks that naming my soon-to-be son after Tim, who is married so there will never be anything between us, is too tacky or wrong. The father has no clue who Tim is but likes the name Timothy Noel.
My son's father and I are no longer together and I was never seeing Tim, we are just friends.
Advice?

Pick another name. One day, when your son gets older, he will ask you why his name is Timothy. It will be uncomfortable explaining it to him if he's named after a guy you still carry a torch for.

for sure TACKY !!!! when your son asks how he got his name is that what you want him to know because believe he will i promise. Name him something you can make him proud of having like after your dad so he can say I'm named after my papa. and if you are not married give him YOUR last name i had to change my son's last name because he doesn't know his dad and now he has a sense of belonging with his new last name that matches the family he knows. good luck

Honey, I got pregnant by your daddy, but I loved another man, so I named you after the man Iove. And your daddy said it was ok, because he didn't know him.
