Just started watching again and the last time I saw him he was married to Jackie. What happened?

I was wondering that too. I do believe he is supposed to be returning to Days of Our Lives.

According to wikipedia, he just left town...I look for Joseph Mascolo to show up on Days of our Lives again as Stefano.
