When i get an equation from stat and calc..like a quadratic or something..i should be able to press vars...y vars..function..y1 and paste it into my y=, but it says "err: invalid"

what do i do?

No... what you want to do is STAT > CALC > (whichever regression you want) then STO> now go to VARS > Y-VARS > FUNCTION > Y1

The Y1 function stores the first function from the graph screen. To put Y = Y1 would be redundant, like saying x=x. This is why the Ti-84 reports "invalid".

In order to graph the function you receive from a CALC function, you will have to explicitly add the command in the end of the arguement line. For example, when data is already enetered in L1 and L2, type the following:

linReg(ax+b), L1, L2, Y1

This will add whatever function returned into Y1. Turn on STATPLOT to see how the function fits your data points.

Here's what: get it into the y editor first by hitting y=

Clear anything you don't want.

Then do: VARS 5 right right enter


(right means hit the right pointing selector)
