is that suppose to be like 8S or S8?

cause if it's S8 then it the answer would be diffrent ..
solution

16 g S8 x 1 mol S8/ 256.48x 8 mol Fe/ 1 mol s8 x 55.8 G Fe/ 1 mol Fe=27.9 grams Fe to react with 16 grams S8=27.8 grams Fe to react with Sulfur =27.7 as well

otherwise if its a 1 to 1 mol ratio then...

16 g S x 1 mol S8/ 32.06 x 1 mol Fe/ 1 mol s8 x 55.8 G Fe/ 1 mol Fe=27.9 grams Fe to react with 16 grams S8
=27.7 grams to react

ahahahah oh the answers are the same ahahah just dif map

Atomic weights: Fe = 56 S + 32

16gS x 1molS/32gS x 8molFe/8molS x 56gFe/1molFe = (16)(8)(56)/(32)(8) = g Fe

The 16gS is given. The first factor comes from the atomic weight of S. The g S cancel, leaving mol S. The second factor comes from a very strange balanced equation. The mol S cancel, leaving mol Fe. The third factor comes from the atomic weight of Fe. The mol Fe cancel, leaving g Fe, which is what was wanted. The reason for the 8S is that elemental sulfur in the rhombic or monoclinic comes in rings of 8. The teacher wanted to show tyou the ratiocination of his mind LOL.

So first let's reduce things to common terms...

16 grams of S is a half a mole of S, but only 1/16 mole of S8.

So, we need 1/16 * 8Fe, or 1/2 mole of Fe, right?

What's a half mole of Fe? About 28 gm.

So 28 gm is the mass of iron, and obviously if we have 28 gm Fe and 16 gm of S and they're both completely consumed, then we'd have about 44 gm FeS.

16g S8/1 x 1mol S8/257g S8 x 8mol Fe/1 mol S8x 55.9g Fe/1mol Fe = 27.8 g Fe

16g S/1 x 1mol S/ 257g S x 8 mol FeS/1mol S x 88.0g FeS/1mol FeS = 43.8g FeS

the S8 molecule's molar mass is 8*32.07. the moles you have of it are the grams divided by molar mass, or 16 / (8*32.07), which gives you 0.0624 moles S8.

the mole ratio between sulfur and iron in this is 8:1, so multiply this by eight and you need 0.499 moles of iron, which, if you multiply it by iron's molar mass (55.85), is 27.87g Fe.

because of the law of conservation of mass, the total grams in the reactants equals the total grams of the products, so grams of FeS produced is 27.87 + 16 = 43.87g FeS

1mol Fe reacts with 1mol S

1mol=atomic weight of an element

16 grams of sulphur is 1mol so you will be reacting it with 26grams of Fe.

16+26=42 grams of FeS
