Hi..im running windows 2000 sp4..and when I press Ctrl+Alt+Del, the task manager button can't be clicked. And if I run cmd.exe and type taskmgr, an error would appear saying, "Task Manager has been disabled by your administrator." Please help me how to enable it. Another thing, im using Zone alarm security suite (antivirus prog).

Hi, I had the same problem a while ago. I cant quite remember what I did but it involved running some pretty serious anti virus software as it was cause by a virus. Have you any antivirus software? If not, I can suggest AVG Free Edition which, with the latest update, should find and delete the offending virus. AVG can be downloaded free from internet, just do a search. I hope you catch the virus, it hides Task Manager so you cannot see that it is running (i guess).

Definitely sounds like a virus of some sort. Try downloading another antivirus program and searching your computer. I would recommend a quick scan from Ad-Aware even before an anti-virus program.

check in gpedit.msc (maybe you don't have rights to open it), in "user configuration/administrative templates/system/ctrl+alt+del options" if "remove task manager" is enabled, if so set it to not configured
also can try Process Explorer
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/utilities/ProcessExplorer.mspx
it can replace task manager
sure it can be a virus or something, but this one is a momentary solution

It could be a virus disabling it. Check out this site on ways to disable it. http://www.wareprise.com/2006/12/21/how-to-delete-virus-that-disables-task-manager-regedit-from-launching/
