Yes, in most cases, not all. It depends on the copy protection of the DVD. What software you use depends on your operating system. Search at versiontracker.com. Then prepare for a geeky learning curve and spending some serious computer time; converting video is processor-intensive (so most people do it overnight).

First you need to "rip" the DVD to a file on your computer, then you convert that file down from full-screen size to iPod-screen size. On a Mac, good software for these two steps are MacTheRipper and InstantHandbrake (or iSquint). For Windows, you'll have to do your own research... there are several utilities. Both shareware and commercial software is available for these purposes, but AFAIK, most people are happy with shareware solutions. Do read the documentation to determine proper settings to use; if you do it wrong, you can end up with silent movies. And you should be aware of copyright infringement issues (e.g., don't convert DVDs you don't own, and even if you do, you still may be breaking the law)!

But yes, if you're persistent and determined, it can be done.

LCMPod is right on everything there. But if your determined to get the DVD onto your iTunes then go to the following website. http://elliottback.com/wp/archives/2005/12/26/how-to-rip-a-dvd-a-tutorial/

It shows you how to rip a DVD file to a smaller CD file that can be saved onto your hard drive. Then its just a matter of converting your new file to a movie file that is compatible with iTunes (mpeg-4).
